Choosing a grooming tool

Match the tool to the coat: slicker brushes and undercoat rakes for long or double coats, rubber mitts and bristle brushes for short, smooth coats. Brush in the direction the hair grows and stop if the skin reddens.

A fine steel blade for loose undercoat

Curved blade: follows the shape of the body.
Fine teeth: closely set, with rounded tips.
Two widths: a large 10.5 cm blade for the back and sides, a small 7.5 cm blade for legs, face and small pets.
Curved handle: 15 cm long, with a hole to hang it up.
Light: about 105 g large and 76 g small (supplier-stated).

Use it gently on a dry coat, in the direction the hair grows, without pressing into the skin. It lifts loose hair; it does not cut the coat. The Large and Small option is a pair of both combs in one colour.

Pull the hair off the teeth after each use. Rinse the blade now and then and dry it straight away.

Frequently asked questions

Which size do I need? The large 10.5 cm blade covers the back and sides of a cat or dog quickly; the small 7.5 cm blade reaches legs, chest and small pets. The pair gives you both.

Does it cut the hair? No. The teeth lift loose, dead hair out of the coat; they do not cut.

How often should I use it? A few minutes once or twice a week, more often in the shedding seasons.
